It Goes On Forever — What is a vanishing point, and how does one-point perspective work?

A vanishing point is the single spot in a picture where every line that runs away from you meets, and one-point perspective is how you use it to turn a flat sheet of paper into a corridor you could walk down. In this lesson you hold that point under your thumb and watch a whole room rebuild itself around it — and you find the part almost nobody gets told: the vanishing point sits exactly at the eye level of whoever is looking, so moving it changes who the picture belongs to. Painted four days before a school play, for a girl who has to walk on and say "it goes on forever" and be believed.
